Happy almost-Halloween, pixel pals! Day 20 of the challenge is here, and with it comes a spooky staple: the jack-o'-lantern.
Flickering Flames and Pixel Pumpkins:
As the nights get longer and the air gets crisper, it's the perfect time to carve out a bit of pixelated fun. I tried my hand at animating a flickering candlelight effect, but let's just say it's still a work in progress. The goal was to capture that spooky, dancing light that gives jack-o'-lanterns their signature charm. While my first attempt might be more "jitter" than "flicker," hey, it's all part of the learning process, right?
Simple Shapes, Spooky Vibes:
I kept the design of the pumpkin itself pretty simple. Just a few shades of orange and yellow, with a classic carved-out face that's equal parts menacing and playful. Even without the perfect flickering effect, the jack-o'-lantern still brings those Halloween vibes.
Lessons Learned and Looking Ahead:
While the animation might not be where I want it just yet, I'm proud of the progress I'm making with pixel art. This challenge has pushed me to try new things and experiment with different techniques. So, even though my candle might be a bit jittery, I'm excited to keep practicing and refining my skills.
